Position Overview
The Coffee Trader / Marketeer plays a dual role: commercially driven and relationship-focused to help expand our customer base across North America, with a particular focus on onboarding clients in the Commercial, Commercial Plus and specialty coffee segments. The position must have leading marketing strategies, have a customer portfolio to onboard and enhance brand visibility, customer engagement, and sales growth. This role combines direct sales, trade execution, and marketing support, while also collaborating with origin and sourcing teams to ensure customer needs are aligned with supply capabilities. The ideal candidate brings an active network, strong coffee market insight, and a results-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Coffee Trading & Procurement
- Bring and onboard a portfolio of active clients — including roasters, importers, and distributors — into our platform.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across North America to grow our customer base.
- Execute trades and negotiate contracts that meet customer requirements in terms of quality, pricing, and delivery.
- Provide market feedback and sales insights to internal teams, ensuring our offerings stay aligned with demand trends.
- Collaborate with logistics and risk management teams to ensure smooth execution of contracts.
- Help develop our specialty/commercial plus segment
- Participate in cuppings and quality evaluations to help match coffees with customer profiles and expectations.
- Assist origin and sourcing teams by providing demand forecasts, product feedback, and positioning insights.
- Contribute to developing offers and product strategies for origins where we are expanding or building new presence.
Marketing/Sales Management
- Expected to have an established networks of clients that can be immediately introduced and onboarded to our platform
- Develop and implement marketing tools to promote coffees from our origins and develop new channels from coffees that we can buy in countries where we currently do not have a presence
- Work with product development and branding teams to craft compelling narratives around origin, sustainability, and innovation – qualities, origins, delivery modalities
- Manage partnerships, sponsorships, and PR initiatives to enhance brand presence.
- Analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies based on KPIs.
- Open to frequent travel for customer and suppliers visits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, International Trade, or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in green coffee trading, commodities, or the specialty coffee industry.
- Proven experience in marketing, brand management, or product promotion.
- Strong team spirit, openly sharing market intelligence and strategies while engaging in trading discussions
- Strong negotiation and communication skills; fluency in Spanish a plus.
- Deep understanding of coffee markets, cupping protocols, and supply chain dynamics.
- Proficient in CRM, trading platforms, and other marketing tools
