Regional Compliance Officer for APAC

Job Purpuse:

Develop  and implement a compliance program for the APAC in coordination with the Global Compliance team

 

Responsibilities:

Training & policies

  • Keep up to date on rules and regulations on derivatives, trade sanctions, anti-bribery and anti-money laundering matters, applicable to CIL’s activity in APAC.
  • Ensure that new compliance policies are effectively published and notified to APAC employees, and that they are effectively implemented and complied with; develop regional or local policies or procedure as necessary.
  • Contribute to the Compliance Team’s efforts to implement a comprehensive training program covering all compliance matters (i.e. derivatives, trade sanctions, anti-bribery and anti-money laundering)

Monitoring

  • Work in close coordination with the Regulatory Compliance team to monitor derivatives trading by investigating alerts on potentially abusive or disruptive trading (such as spoofing, wash trading, price manipulation etc.)  
  • Review derivatives trading activity in the APAC region continuously, to ensure it is conducted according to local exchange rules (for instance on regulatory reporting obligations, position limits or specific transactions such as EFPs)
  • Participate in the onboarding and review of CIL counterparts’ physical commodities transactions with regards to sanctions, bribery/corruption and money laundering risks.

Global Compliance Program

  • Participate in the global team’s effort to develop a compliance culture within CIL.
  • Proactively attend the global compliance team meetings.
  • Constantly cooperate with the global compliance team’s program on training, policies and monitoring.
  • Contribute with new ideas to improve processes and enhance the overall compliance program.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry rules and regulations, and CIL’s objectives and new projects.
  • Daily interact with CIL’s commercial and functional teams, esp. in all the APAC region.

 

What does it take to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  •  5 to 10 years with experience in derivatives compliance, KYC, trade sanctions and ABC/AML.
  • Experience with a Trading Firm or Financial Services Institution preferred
  • Deep understanding of commodity trading and/or exchange traded futures.
  • Very good knowledge the commodity trading industry, preferably in agricultural sector.
  • Familiarity with regulators and exchange undertakings.
