The position is responsible for provide leadership for accounting and reporting for Global Cotton division. Ensure the integrity of its financial results (both in local and IFRS standards), following corporate policies and guidelines. Act as business partner with traders and other team members in supporting Cotton Business to achieve its goals, by providing a financial approach to identify, assessing and mitigating risks while contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. Engage with functions and regional leaders to ensure Cotton business is properly managed and controlled in all countries. This position will report directly to the Global Controller for Softs, the role offers broad exposure to commercial, operational, and corporate leadership teams. The position may be based in either São Paulo or Santos, Brazil.
Responsibilities
Business Partnership & Strategic Support
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior business leaders and functional stakeholders for local and global business.
- Partner with commercial and operational teams to support strategic and tactical decision-making.
- Provide financial insights to evaluate business opportunities, risks, and performance drivers.
- The role is pivotal for answering questions on a day-to-day basis about various topics.
- Facilitate collaboration between finance and business functions across regions.
- Act as a strong participant of the softs finance leadership team.
Financial Reporting Management
- Responsible for all financial aspects of the Cotton business transactions in the country where the individual is located (e.g., Brazil).
- Participate and manage the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Perform detailed review of balance sheet and P&L to ensure compliance with Group reporting requirements. Update monthly balance sheet accounts analysis and provide commentary to Senior Management on monthly results for all regions included on the Global business.
- Ensure accuracy of the information in the Accounting Systems consistent with the Trading System.
- Work closely with market risk to assess the mark-to-market pricing against observable market data. Review and document physical inventory, equity, and open contract mark-to-market reports.
- Ensure all Legal Entities maintain reporting structure to be aligned with Global business needs.
Financial Governance & Controls
- Ensure the integrity, consistency, and reliability of financial information.
- Maintain effective financial controls and governance practices.
- Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements, not limited to the finance function.
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities when required.
- Monitor financial processes and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and efficiency.
- Act as a leader to ensure the business operates under the pre-defined control framework, assisting leaders to revise control activities and to address and immediately communicate issues.
- Oversight/Responsibility of the daily processes reporting to group: global P&L and Position, ensuring month end accounting P&L results are reconciled to the Trade estimate.
- Work collaboratively with the functional support groups to ensure adequate controls through the trade initiation to cash process and straight through processing to the ledger where possible.
Planning, Forecasting & Budgeting
- Develop policies and procedures for the business to be followed in all countries.
- Coordinate annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Support the development of business plans and financial targets.
- Monitor performance against budget and forecast, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Ensure the business the working capital usage aligns with corporate requirements in each region and its implication to the Legal Entities capital structure.
- Provide detailed month-end analysis of the individual trade desks to FP&A and Strategy teams.
- Adhoc analysis of significant P&L moves of the business.
- Perform scenario analysis and support strategic planning initiatives.
- Develop recommendations to improve business performance and resource allocation.
- Support the preparation of presentations and reporting materials for senior management.
- Work closely with other regions to drive consistency in the group.
Process Improvement & Transformation
- Drive initiatives focused on process optimization, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Promote standardization of financial reporting and management processes.
- Support finance transformation projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop scalable reporting solutions that enhance business visibility and decision-making.
- Encourage the adoption of best practices across regions and teams.
Experience
Significant experience in Finance, Business Controlling, Commercial Finance, FP&A, Accounting, or related finance leadership roles.Proven track record operating within large, complex, and multinational organizations.
Strong experience partnering with senior business stakeholders.
Experience supporting fast-paced commercial environments and performance-driven organizations.
Exposure to global operations and multi-country business structures.
Proven experience in trading accounting, preferable in Softs commodity.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, management accounting, and business performance management.Advanced analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes.
Solid understanding of IFRS or equivalent reporting frameworks.
Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business insights.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CMA, or equivalent) is considered an advantage.
MBA or postgraduate qualification is desirable.
Advanced English proficiency, both written and verbal.
