Technical Oils Trader

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Oils Trader to join COFCO’s Trading team, reporting to the Trading Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and trading various types of technical oils, including HCO (Hydrogenated Castor Oil), 12-HAS Flakes, HCO Fatty Acid, Ricinoleic Acid, Bisamides, DCOFA, HCO Powder, 12-HAS Powder, Sebacic Acid, and Castor Oil itself, across domestic and international markets.
This individual will work closely with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to manage market exposure, maximize profitability, and expand market share within this specialized segment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Market Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of the global technical oils market, identifying key trends, supply-demand dynamics, and pricing movements.
  • Trading & Negotiation: Execute buy and sell trades for technical oils, focusing on achieving optimal pricing and delivery terms. Negotiate contracts, establish long-term partnerships with suppliers, and close profitable deals with customers.
  • Supplier & Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, refineries, and customers to ensure a reliable and consistent flow of products. Engage regularly with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Risk Management: Manage trading risks, including price volatility and market fluctuations, through effective hedging strategies and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Monitor stock levels, manage logistics, and ensure timely delivery of technical oils to customers. Coordinate with Operations, Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure seamless trade execution.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Maintain accurate records of contracts, trades, and financial documentation.
  • Reporting & Performance Analysis: Prepare regular reports on trading performance, profitability, and market trends. Evaluate trade outcomes and provide recommendations to improve future trading strategies.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities and markets for technical oils. Support the expansion of the company’s product portfolio and geographical footprint.
 
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) in commodity trading, preferably within technical oils or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of the technical oils market, including product specifications, supply chain dynamics, and trading platforms.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong ability to interpret market trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to manage trading risk and exposure to market volatility.
  • Proficiency in trading and market analysis tools.
  • Fluent in English. Additional language skills are considered an advantage.
  • Experience in international markets and knowledge of customs regulations.
  • Familiarity with technical oils applications across industries such as automotive, manufacturing, and energy.
  • Strong knowledge of trading strategies and market analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, as well as ERP systems.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of cost-benefit analysis.
