Job Purpose:
The Junior Operations Officer works in close cooperation with the rest of the Operations team and with the (relevant) Trading desk(s) in a fast-paced, at times hectic, commodity trading environment.
You will be dealing with daily challenges of successfully executing contracts, physical shipments and the processing of both incoming and outgoing invoices. Being part of the trade support team from the moment contracts have been concluded until the final execution/delivery. Making sure that all procedures are correct and at the same time contractual and legal terms and conditions are met for the purpose of optimizing results and being paid.
Responsabilities:
- Main responsibility will be to arrange all barge logistics from the Port of Rotterdam to the inland destinations of our customers. This is a vital task in the daily operations of the company and requires full understanding of the trade contracts, the barge market and the current situation in the port.
- Maintaining control over the execution until finalization of payments and administrative requirements
- Maintaining contacts with internal and external counterparts such as contractual counterparts, freight forwarders, ship agents, terminal operators and surveyors
- Ensuring that all post trading items are taken care of in line with terms of the underlying contract conditions such as laytime and costings
- Understanding and maintaining budget vs actual costings.
Education and Qualifications
HBO (higher educational) level
Experience:
- Excellent communication skills: able to communicate with (international) internal and external parties
- Excellent written and spoken Dutch and English
- Basic knowledge of French and German
- Experienced user of MS Word and MS Excel
- Basic accounting.
- Excellent math computation skills.
