Laytime Analyst

Job purpose

 

Thre global Laytime team serves COFCO International and its subsidiaries by making laytime calculations both for the commodity and freight side. As a Laytime Analyst, you will be expected to carry out the calculation, negotiation and settlement processes covering the entire trade chain. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate with the Operations and Execution teams to ensure accurate document collection, preventing any omissions as per CP/contracts, and ensuring laytime submissions are within the required time frame;
  • Perform and/or verify laytime calculations to ensure accuracy;
  • Notify traders of any potential exposures due to contractual terms and discrepancies;
  • Ensure that traders' instructions are followed precisely to avoid errors in laytime processing;
  • Enter and monitor laytime accruals in Chartering and Trading systems (e.g., IMOS, EKA, Allegro);
  • Conduct negotiations with counterparties to finalize agreements;
  • Create credit/debit notes and finalize settlements;
  • Review C/P and contract types issued by organizations like BIMCO, ANEC, GAFTA, NAEGA, and FOSFA, keeping up with updates and assessing their impact on laytime calculations.;
  • Identify issues to be included in Global Laytime Team practices and procedures to assist team members and the company in handling similar situations;
  • Propose process methodologies to help managers enhance both productivity and quality.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime, Shipping or Logistics Management;
  • Degree in MICS will be an advantage;
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with a Shipping or Trading company of which at least 1 year core experience in Laytime on a full-time basis;
  • Experience on tanker operation preferred but not required;
  • Experienced level of understanding of laytime terms;
  • Familiarization with Charter Party and Sales Contract clauses;
  • Experience from hybrid working or collaborating virtually;
  • Advanced English level, both written and spoken;
  • High computer literacy;
  • Attention to details with a strong focus on contractual language;
  • Ability to analyze data accurately and make suggestions & improvement;
  • Technology sound with regards to using digital applications;
  • Good understanding of contracts, charter parties and key Laytime/ demurrage provisions and the terminology associated with Laytime in order to perform an accurate calculation;
  • Ability to negotiate with customers by making analytical calculations on laytime calculation.
