Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Export Documentation Specialist to manage the complex logistics and regulatory requirements of global cotton trade. You will be responsible for ensuring that high-volume cotton shipments move efficiently across borders while strictly adhering to international trade laws and contractual terms to ensure timely payment.
Key Responsibilities
- Specialized Documentation: Prepare and verify cotton-specific export packets, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Ocean Bills of Lading.
- Trade Finance: Manage the presentation of shipping documents to banks for Letters of Credit (LC) negotiation and ensure compliance with strict LC deadlines.
- Logistics Coordination: track shipments from warehouse to final destination.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between internal merchants, freight forwarders, Agent/brokers, and international buyers.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 1-3+ years in export documentation, preferably within soft commodities (cotton, grains, coffee, or Sugar).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of Incoterms , U.S. export regulations, and international payment terms.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with PDF
Preferred Skills
- Certification: Certified Export Specialist (CES) designation a plus.
- Industry Standards: Familiarity with International Cotton Association (ICA) a plus
- Letters of Credit: Full understanding in compliance, negotiation, and presentation a must
Salary & Benefits
- Estimated Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
