Senior Credit Risk Analyst

Job Purpose
In this challenging and global role, you will independently assess, structure, and monitor counterparty credit risk across COFCO International’s origination businesses in Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Serbia. 

You will ensure sound credit decisions and maintaining a high-quality risk portfolio. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive credit analyses that incorporate financial performance, country risk indicators, crop forecasts, and weather-related scenarios to evaluate counterparties’ creditworthiness.
In close collaboration with commercial and risk stakeholders you will supports business growth while safeguarding the company against credit losses through effective limit management, continuous portfolio monitoring, timely risk reporting, and the implementation of appropriate risk mitigation measures. You will serve as a trusted risk partner, providing independent judgment, constructive challenge, and effective stakeholder engagement both internally and externally.


Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on credit analysis of trading counterparties and daily follow-up of relevant industry news and other alerts with potential impact on the credit portfolios.
  • Manage credit approval process in timely manner and with proper justifications.
  • Set up internal credit ratings and credit limits and conduct periodic review.
  • Ensure counterparty risk is managed and controlled following company’s policies and credit appetite.
  • Keep up to date watchlist with open defaults, concerns, legal cases and overdue accounts and communicate in line with group requirements.
  • Keep up to date “No Trading” list and communicate in line with group requirements.
  • Report timely on breaches to Credit Policy in line with group requirements.
  • Review and report on a regular basis credit exposure in line with group requirements.
  • Provide trading desks with guidelines to help them comply with credit policies.
  • Provide leadership to credit risk management in the region.
  • To become a strong partner to trading desks and other support functions. To actively generate connections to facilitate partnership and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with credit risk teams in the headquarter and other regions for cross coverage.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency of existing processes and controls.
  • To support the risk department on projects as assigned


Education, Experience and Skills

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or CFA.
  • 3+ years of credit risk experience gained at trading companies, banks or insurance companies preferably with exposure to Agribusiness. In depth knowledge of the Central European grains market is a plus.
  • In-depth analysis of financial statements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert.
  • Influence without direct authority.
  • Good analytical and control mindsets.
  • Language Proficiency: English, any knowledge of Romanian is a plus.
  • Experience in CVA, PFE, credit risk netting agreements and implementation of credit systems (desirable).
  • Credit insurance knowledge (desirable).
