Job Purpose

  • The essential role of this FX Controller will be to manage foreign exchange exposure, at an entity level, arising from trading and non-trading activities across the company. Due to the significant risk to the company created by unhedged FX exposure, FX controller has a pivotal role in safeguarding the company’s assets. 
  • The position operates as an FX analyst with the emphasis on collaboration, development, implementation, and optimization of internal procedures, as well as compliance with Group policies & procedures.    
  • Strong profiles include finance background understanding FX control, FX compliance, and business risk.   The actions taken by this role will be focused on Romanian operations, but they would be solid integrated, cascaded and monitored within CE region.
  • The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional with previous experience able to work autonomously and diligently, undertaking necessary actions. This person should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, implementing all applicable policies and procedures, with a strong background in FX project management/planning in Finance area.


Responsibilities

  • Reviewer and client point of contact for various daily deliverables including currency hedge instruction to Treasury, restricted currency exposure reporting and FX Revaluation P&L controls and reporting.
  • Contingent cover for production of daily deliverables.
  • Preparation of daily FX exposure and month end analytics and governance review packs.
  • Support Treasury and Controlling with various FX checks to understand and resolve issues as well as provide advice and training related to currency risk management and associated accounting controls.
  • Support key renovation work and other initiatives to enhance processes and workflows.
  • Support infrastructure setup for a tool to automate follow up of FX hedges.
  • Performs any other duties as instructed by direct manager or senior management, relevant to the positionAdheres to COFCO values, guidelines and procedures, as well as to internally developed policies and workflows.


Requirements

  • 5+ years industry experience with focus on Finance/Controller background.
  • Understanding of FX risk.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities with a strong work ethic and team player mentality.
  • Ability to plan and execute against tight timeframes.
  • Strong organizational skill and strategic thinking.
  • Analytical mind-set and good problem-solving skills with a willingness to drill through to the root cause of issues.
  • Strong controls background with an ability to design, implement, enhance and monitor the effectiveness of existing or new controls.
  • Qualified with relevant Professional Qualification (i.e. Accounting, IFRS reporting standards and especially accounting treatment as per IAS21 & derivatives/financial instruments as per IFRS9).
  • Advanced Excel, BI Tools a plus.
  • Good English knowledge.
  • Hedge accounting familiarity.
  • FX forward and swaps product knowledge or background.
  • Treasury or Product Control experience.
