Asset Controller Romania

Scope of the role

The role of the Asset Controller is to ensure compliance with all Finance & Controlling responsibilities and reporting requirements related to the operational assets as well as ongoing investment projects. The person will have full autonomy and accountability over the industrial budgets (CAPEX, OPEX): preparing, reporting, follow-ups, forecasts, challenging Asset Management team on realization of budgets, etc., as well as be in charge of complete Procurement flow (from tendering, contracting, to invoicing monitoring and appropriate payments processing by Treasury).

All activities are integrated with the Finance department, will full support from: General Accounting and Financial Reporting, Treasury and Cash Management, Assets team, as well as Corporate/Group functions: Strategy, M&A, Non-Trade Procurement, EMEA Management.

 

The main goals and value-added of the Asset Controller are:

  • to monitor and report the performance of the Industrial assets (Silos)
  • to properly monitor and report the investment budgets, as well as report the status of CAPEX plan
  • to provide an independent perspective on the industrial performance, and challenge when needed
  • act as main point of contact for internal & external departments, related to Asset business
  • to be the Finance partner to the Silo division & Asset Management teams
  • to support Management Team with strategic planning and further CAPEX projects development

Responsibilities

  • Elaborates the yearly industrial budget and ensures it is properly administrated
  • Active participation with all Romanian CAPEX projects including business case preparation, approval processes, budgeting & follow-up reporting, project execution, contracting and implementation of operating standards
  • Prepares investment reviews (actual vs budget, payback, ROIC, IRR, etc.), audits and presentations for Management
  • Supervises the tendering process for all the industrial related costs in accordance with Group policies
  • Management of approvals according to authority limits and prerogatives (invoice/PR/PO validation, contracts revision, etc.), ensuring Non-trade Procurement standards are put in place and operating as per Group policy
  • Direct involvement during the construction phase with specific focus on works progress certifications and construction supplier’s payments
  • Works in full cooperation with Legal function for the follow-up process over permits, authorizations and suppliers contracting phase
  • Issues reports on CAPEX execution progress
  • Makes visits to the sites tougher with Asset team, to have a deep understanding of the on-site operations, against the budgets and timeline as well as to liaise with Silo managers and support with any administrative decision/procedures related to the silo
  • Performs detailed financial and operational reports, including action-oriented analysis
  • Supervises the operations in the facilities, from industrial financial performance point of view and KPI achievements
  • Monitors and challenges the maintenance plans (actual vs budgets, timeline for execution, etc.), in coordination with Silo Division Manager
  • Management of the approval process for all expenditures, as per budget as well as internal approval process
  • Monitors the accounts payable process for all the expenditures related to the asset network, in close cooperation with the rest of Finance team
  • Supports and advises FA accountant with fixed assets management, proper documentation and correct/timely disclosures (determination of useful life, protocols for reception, depreciation schedule, etc.)
  • Constant follow-up and adherence to the Internal Control Framework
  • Other specific tasks relevant for the Asset Management structure or Non-Trade Procurement, as advised by direct or line managers
  • Ensure the compliance with the regulations in Romania as well as Group policies and procedures

 

Requirements

  • Education in Accounting/Financial area or related studies
  • 3 - 5 years of experience on similar positions, having had exposure to industrial facilities, investment/divestment projects
  • Previous experience with ERP implementation and/or utilization (SAP is an advantage)
  • Very good MS Office knowledge (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient English speaker
  • Romanian native speaker
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, innovating approach to work
  • Accurate, analytical, strong in respecting deadlines
  • Able to work autonomously and prioritize tasks
  • Travel availability in Romania - approx. 20% of time

Position based in Bucharest, fully work in the office.
