JOB PURPOSE:
As a Linux Site Reliability Engineer, you will have the opportunity to operate and support business critical Linux systems on a multi-cloud environment.
As part of your daily job, you will proactively monitor the service behavior and identify areas for improvement. You will work closely with the Cloud and SAP BASIS engineers participating in the development of automated deployment of servers as well as monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installation and Configuration: Development of DevOps pipelines for automated deployment of servers in Public Cloud environments using Ansible and Cloud-init;
- System Administration: Manage and support Linux systems running SAP as well as other applications, ensuring optimal performance and system availability;
- Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor system performance and conduct necessary tuning to optimize resource utilization and application response times;
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux operating systems;
- Security Management: Ensure system security compliance through proper user management and authorization procedures, adhering to best practices;
- Collaboration: Work with development teams, cloud architects, database administrators and network engineers to align systems with business needs and ensure seamless integration;
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guidelines;
- Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field;
- Relevant Linux certifications (e.g., Red Hat, SUSE);
- Minimum of 5-10 years of extensive experience in Linux administration focusing on automated deployment;
- Deep knowledge of Linux operating systems, performance tuning, and troubleshooting;
- Proficiency with Linux scripting and automation tools;
- Proficiency with DevOps Pipelines, Ansible, Terraform and cloud-init;
- Experience with public clouds, in particular Microsoft Azure or Huawei Cloud;
- Knowledge of SAP systems are considered valuable;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges;
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly to various stakeholders;
- Fluent in English; Spanish and Portuguese are a plus.
