Sugar Agronomist

Job Purpose:
This position is to handle sugar production forecast, gathering market information and Thailand sugar market trend, develop a network among producers and participants of the market regional analysis about supply and demand in Thailand sugar industry to support with fundamental data and analysis the sugar trading commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Gain an in-depth understanding of the sugar market, including supply and demand dynamics, agronomical factors, crop competition, pricing trends, market players, and key industry influencers.
• Provide timely insights and recommendations on opportunities and challenges for our business strategies in the region.
• Conduct field visits to gather real-time data from key stakeholders such as farmers, millers, government agencies, and sugar associations.
• Deliver regular updates to the commercial team on crop conditions, market trends, and export/import activities.
• Support the regional analyst with demand analysis, Thailand sugar tenders, market pricing, Thailand SnD, and trade flow information.
• Utilize comprehensive data models to enhance the efficiency and creativity of supply and demand analysis and reporting, in collaboration with the regional analyst.
• Employ advanced modelling techniques to monitor weather patterns and competing crops, providing early risk assessments for the sugar crop.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the sugar sector, including traders, mills, agricultural associations, research institutes, and government bodies.
• Regularly share insights and align strategies with the global research and commercial teams.
• Present weekly updates in English to the global team on the latest developments and analyses of the Thailand sugar market.

Education and Qualifications:    
• Strong academic background and bachelor’s or advanced degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or a related field

Experience:    
• 1 - 5 years of sugar or agricultural commodities market analytics experience 
• Experience in data analytics is an advantage

Skills:    
• Able to communicate and write emails in English
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data management
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English
• Willingness to travel within Thailand or Overseas as needed
